Stephen Nowak

writer/producer

Steve has been pulling ads out of magazines since junior high. He plucked pages from the sports mags at the barbershop. He tore through National Geographic mags as he waited at the dentist’s office. And his Dad rarely got the full story as pages from his Newsweek mysteriously went missing. Steve was drawn to a similarity he noticed between these ads and the poetry he liked to write. Simply put, they were trying to convey a point by impressing the reader. Eventually, he would discover that there was far more potential for a career in advertising than that of poetry.

After studying journalism and advertising in college and working for two full-service agencies, Steve will tell you today that advertising isn’t exactly poetry. But he will tell you that a quick and lasting impression means everything. Because people are busy, impatient, and bombarded by messaging. He’ll tell you that everybody judges a book by its cover. So look your best, and make every word count.

When he’s not writing for a living, Steve writes to relax. He lives with his wife in Broad Ripple, where they regularly volunteer for the Broad Ripple Home Tour hosted by the Broad Ripple Village Association. Steve is also an avid outdoorsman and pretends he knows how to play basketball with a men’s group every Tuesday.
