Second StoryIndianapolis has a long and proud literary history. We’ve produced more than our share of great writers—from James Whitcomb Riley to Kurt Vonnegut.

Second Story is a non-profit writing project serving kids, schools, and community organizations in Indianapolis, Indiana. We’re dedicated to helping kids form positive attitudes about creative writing and improve their skills as writers.

Second Story was founded and largely funded by Well Done and our associates. Our programs include in-class writing instruction at local schools, after-school tutoring, creative-writing workshops, and other events. We’re continuing to expand our programs to help elementary, middle school, and high school students.

We think writing is important. We’ve also found lots of people who agree with us. We’ve received generous grants from State Farm, The Indianapolis Foundation, The Legacy Fund, and individual donors. We’ve also had the support of lots of great writers and volunteers.

Of course, there’s plenty of opportunity for you to get involved, too.
