On Tuesday, June 17, Instagram posted an announcement introducing its users to Explore, as well as new capabilities on its search function. Here’s the scoop.
Explore will allow users to keep up with real-time trending topics in Instagram. Keep in mind, Instagram is owned by Facebook, so this update will likely operate much like Facebook’s trending section. Here’s what we can expect these updates to look like:
Instagram Curated Collections
We’ll also have access to curated collections of Instagram’s selection. These topics will feature everything “from musicians and extreme athletes to stunning architecture and gorgeous beaches.” For now, these updates will only be available in the United States.
Instagram will now offer its places search, in which users can explore places directly from their smartphones. You’ll now be able to see restaurants, festivals, and inside museums without ever booking a plane ticket.
